As someone who currently works in data protection in the medical/mental health field AND also did a degree in neuroscience where one of my thesis's was about epigenetics and biological reductionism, this was such a nice read that felt like it was meant for me (lol) - and touches on the need for humanity + the step away from looking at the digital tracking epidemic of our biology through a microscopic lens.

Thank you for taking the time to read and sharing your thoughts! Whoa your thesis sounds so relevant to this piece (!!) curious to hear more about it :~o I also studied neuroscience in undergrad but moved away from ~ Hard Science (lol) ~ postgrad so I am happy this resonated with someone currently working in the field. <3

Neuroscience grad veterans unite omg! Am happy to yap about my mini paper - it was a weird sandwich of scientific history + the history of neuroscience being based in racism as it came from phrenology, and how the rise in biological reductionism in the mainstream ie: intelligence gene, lean towards similar eugenic like thinking.

I've been thinking alot about "longevity science" within the western techbro spheres and that one scene in Industry at the end of season 3 where the rising interest (and capitalisation) of being "well" and "optimal" as humans are somehow always seem to only be built for and afforded by the upper class and attempts to democratise it only seem to make it more capitalist in the end + the eugenics of it all still.

I have a mini reading list as well of stuff around this topic if you're interested :)

Would love to also continue this convo in DMs or even here as well!
