I've long believed tech workers need to be more involved in their communities. When in San Francisco, I spent several years helping various local community groups setup and run events to keep their neighborhoods alive. It helped me better understand what San Francisco wanted to be and who wanted to be a part of that culture. It always amazed me at how few people I met in tech companies got involved like that. So many lived in wealthy tech enclaves to travel between expensive stores & restaurants and working hubs via shuttles or Uber.
incredible!
