I don't know if Serendipity Machine should be a band or a song. But it's a fine story. I also miss the days, going back to around 1996, when "cruising the Internet" (it was capitalized in those days), was always cool: Found Art, or radio stations from countries that may have well been galaxies, or just stuff that made me call whoever was around: "Hey, c'mere, you gotta see this!" Now, being online for no purpose other than to be online feels like a chore that will never end, and the bigger it got, as you say, the fewer the options. "They promised us jetpacks, but all we got were apps."
