It’s been a while, but we’re back!
This fall, Reboot aims to relaunch and expand our offerings with the mission of becoming the literary voice of tech.
That’s why we’re looking to bring on 1-2 people as part-time contributors and operators to grow our community.
✍ Apply to contribute
Specifically, we're looking for contributors who can commit 6-10 hours a week through the end of 2020. The main deliverables are reviewing books for the newsletter and supporting event operations.
This is an unpaid role—Reboot doesn't make money!—but we'll buy you a couple books a month and you'll get the opportunity to talk to your intellectual heroes. This is also age- and location-agnostic: the most important things I'm looking for are writing skill and a fresh perspective.
Interested? Apply below, or just click the button to learn more. We’ll review applications on a rolling basis through September 21.
📈 Our plans going forward
We want to revamp Reboot and expand it into a growing but dedicated community of technologists and book-lovers. Here’s a tentative plan for what that looks like:
Short-term goals:
Resume book talks at the pace of 1-2 events per month.
Transform the mailing list into a newsletter that publishes thoughtful book reviews alongside event listings from our trusted contributors.
Medium-term goals:
Run regular events outside of book talks, whether workshops, book clubs, salons, or something else. (Let us know if you have ideas.)
Design and implement a financial sustainability strategy. We don't need to be super profitable, but at least break even on author stipends and book raffles.
Long-term goals:
Become the tech industry's literary voice. Authors send us advance copies of books to review; readers trust us for unique recommendations and thoughtful takes. Think rogerebert.com but for books on tech.
Generate enough revenue to pay contributors and become self-sustaining.
Don’t be shy; reply to this email if you have feedback, questions, or ideas for the future of Reboot. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!
Take care,
Jasmine and Jessica
